Amendoim, Tauari, Timborana,
Amendoim has a high hardness rating which makes it a good choice for areas of high traffic. The wood also shows a good deal of flexibility as well. Amendoim wood grows predominantly in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. It has a lustrous appearance, with the older heartwood presenting a reddish-brown color.
Tauari is a relatively hard wood that lies halfway up on the Janka hardness scale. The wood is relatively easy to work with and machines nicely and can be installed in your home with the use of nails. Besides flooring, Tauari is popular for use in carpentry, stairs, and window construction.
Timborana is a hard wood, so much so that it is often preferable to glue this type of flooring down rather than run the risk of nailing. The wood has a rich, dark yellow and over time will develop reddish highlights. This wood also has a natural resistance to insects and fungus.
