Sydney Blue Gum is relatively easy to work with considering its respectable hardness rating. It is commonly used as plantation lumber in Australia and South Africa. Sydney Blue Gum also has a very high natural resistance to moisture. It is sought after in furniture making and as hardwood flooring due to its spectacular dark honey color.

Bloodwood is named for its dark red color. Unfinished this color will darken over time into a dark brown. Applying a sun resistant finish to the wood will help preserve the striking red color longer. Bloodwood proves to be very strong and durable, like most exotic woods. Unlike most hard woods though, it is easy to work with and much sought after for use in cabinetry and furniture making.

Cocobolo is a great wood to work with, especially considering its density and hardness. There are a lot of natural oils present in the wood which makes gluing down this hardwood very difficult. But at the same time this oil enables the wood to hold a magnificent polish. Cocobolo, when cut and installed has a beautiful orange brown color. This wood is also popular for use in high end pool sticks, cutlery handles and some woodwind instruments.
